About this race:
Shine is almost entirely funded by the generosity of the general public. Our balloon races make a significant contribution to our funds every year.
The challenges our adult members can face daily are many and complex, ranging from health complications, financial hardship and social isolation to a lack of career opportunities and discrimination.
Our professional team provide tailored information and advice on areas including health, benefits, housing, education, employment and social opportunities. The team ensures that members can access all the vital services they need, at the point at which they need them. We also offer education and support to employers, helping them to better understand the needs of and make appropriate adjustments for employees with the conditions.
By sponsoring a balloon you would be helping us to continue to provide the vital services our members urgently need.
We are launching the virtual balloon race from the Basilica of Santa Maria, Florence. Florence Nightingale the founder of modern nursing was born in the city on the 12th of May 1820 whilst her parents were traveling in Italy. 12th May is also recognised as international day of nursing.
